First things first! You will need a passport that doesn’t expire too soon -- at a minimum it should last for 6 monthsafter your anticipated departure date. Apply or renew now if you need to!
Visas and Permits to Stay
Costa Rica allows US citizens to stay as tourists for 180 days. Therefore, none of our programs will requiere a special VISA.
Essentially, your passport is your international ID and your visa is your ticket into the country. If you are planning to stay over, you should either plan an excursion to Panama or Nicaragua, which means you will receive a brand new stamp upon re-entering the country, or apply for a special Visa.
